When I came to Sauber, not only did the team have no points, but there were no plans at all for further development of the car. All attention was focused only on preparing for the 2026 season. And for me this was a problem, because in my opinion the team should always fight for something on the track.
Only in wrestling, competing against other teams, can you understand how good you really are and whether you are moving in the right direction. You must understand your capabilities. Identify strengths and weaknesses and address those issues.
When I joined the team in August, it was like it was in a freeze. So, having made sure that the team had everything planned correctly in its long-term development towards becoming a top team in the future, I realized that we need to take steps to become better this season.
The importance was not to finish the season with zero points. Because there is really no difference between finishing in 10th place overall with zero points or with four points. Rather, it was important for us to determine the direction for development, including in the next season.
And today I see a team that is more confident in what it is doing, that understands what it needs next season. And I hope we will continue to develop our car, " said Binotto.
