Alpin`s boss Otmar Szafnauer commented on Fernando Alonso`s frequent retirements.


Alonso finished the race ahead of schedule in Mexico due to engine failure, after which he complained that only he was experiencing difficulties, and not teammate Esteban Ocon.


The problem arose with the engine, and the engines of Esteban and Fernando are prepared by different people - although the probability [difference in the level of technology] is small, it is not equal to zero, this is possible.

[In the case of Alonso] we also did not find the cause and do not see anything unusual with the car, but in such circumstances everything adds up against Fernando. We apologize to Fernando. It`s understandable to be disappointed when you run such a race and drive in the points, " said Safnauer.


The manager noted that Renault will work on the reliability of engines:


The motors were frozen at the start of the season and we decided to bet on power as the FIA allows reliability issues to be fixed later. So far, we have solved all the problems that we encountered. We cannot increase capacity until 2026, but we can work on reliability. Improvements will be implemented during the winter.
